Over the weekend, H.G. Fenton Company announced the grand opening of EVOC Hillcrest, a luxury apartment community located in the heart of San Diego’s vibrant Hillcrest neighborhood.

EVOC offers 82 apartment homes, featuring a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom units equipped with unique interior features, private outdoor spaces, and the latest energy and water-saving amenities in compliance with California’s CalGreen requirements. The “tech-forward” community redefines convenience with smartphone operated controls for front doors, amenity spaces, elevators and more, all with the touch of a button.

With a prominent location on Normal Street, EVOC creates an urban oasis just steps away from shopping, dining, transit, and entertainment options. Designed as a space to foster connection, EVOC’s community amenities include a hot tub, fitness studio, barbeque area, and gathering areas on each floor, inviting neighbors to mingle and entertain while overlooking the street activity below. Favorite local micro-roaster, Mostra Coffee, offers a communal space for gathering, co-working, and enjoying events on Normal Street, including prime views of San Diego’s renowned annual Pride Parade.

The excitement for EVOC Hillcrest’s grand opening was electric. 100 percent of apartments were pre-leased well ahead of opening day, underscoring the demand for a dynamic, new community like EVOC among residents. The grand-opening celebration on July 1 featured a move-in party with professional movers, a DJ, gift bags, and welcome drinks for new residents.

“We’re incredibly proud to deliver this vibrant living experience to the heart of Hillcrest’s historic community, cultivating a hub for connection, creativity, and inspiration complemented by cutting edge amenities.” said Alex Winborn, Vice President of Residential Asset Management. “We’re thrilled by the excitement from residents, many of whom joined us on hard hat tours to preview their units during construction. Their enthusiasm for EVOC inspires us and we look forward to the ways residents will bring even more life to this community.”

Honoring Hillcrest’s significance as a hallmark for expression and belonging, each of EVOC’s eight floor plans pay homage to an iconic LGBTQIA+ trailblazer. Bold and elegant design elements seamlessly integrate the building into Hillcrest’s iconic streetscape. Collaboratively designed with Deborah Smithton, Smithton Architects, and Diego Velasco, Citythinkers, the building mirrors the vibrancy of the Hillcrest neighborhood.
